Metrum Institute provides a simple utility for calculating md5 checksums: md5.p. Download it by clicking HERE, and save it to a convenient location. It will calculate an md5 checksum for a single file, or for an entire directory (by recursive descent). If file.zip and md5.p are in the directory 'work', navigate to the work directory and enter "perl md5.p file.zip". Of course, perl must have been installed properly, etc. You can find other free md5 programs online via major search engines: type something like 'md5 free Windows'.
